Mission

Movies and cinema form an integral part of the popular media consumed every day. It is a platform that serves multiple purposes – it can entertain, it can educate, and even inspire change. Each movie holds the key to a new world for the viewer, and along with it a new perspective. Movies and cinema have the potential to change the way people see the world.

I believe there is so much more to most movies than what meets the eye. The messages it aims it deliver are often subliminal, hidden through the means of symbolism, color schemes, music soundtrack, and the cinematography. These symbols need to be picked apart in order to appreciate the true essence of the movie and its magnificence . The sheer beauty of these symbols lies in the fact that they are open to interpretation—there is no right or wrong per se, just different viewpoints. Collaborating on and sharing these viewpoints is a way for us to broaden the horizon of our minds. It is therefore my attempt here to review some old and some not-so-old movies, movies that have transcended time and are still relevant from the Bollywood and Hollywood industries, and lay my viewpoint on the table, in the hopes to encourage others to view movies not only as a way to pass a boring afternoon, but as a way to share ideas, challenge intellect and incite change.

ALL VIEWS WRITTEN HERE ARE ENTIRELY PERSONAL.

Studying at the University of Delhi, I am majoring in English Literature. I love to read novels, and listening to music, and keeping myself updated and educating others on social issues. Watching movies is a passion -- I especially enjoy reading in between the lines, finding symbolic meanings, and analysing them in the context of the world.
